Production Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Manager to join our team in Hixon, Stafford. The role would suit someone with experience in a similar role responsible for the efficiency and productivity of the production department through the implementation of best practice and lean manufacturing techniques.

The team you’ll be working in
You will be responsible for the Production Control and planning department, and the Assembly and Manufacturing areas of the factory. You will be targeted to deliver a production department capable of providing products at the right quality and on time. Besides, your immediate peers, you will also work cross-functionally with other departments on a day to day basis to ensure that we deliver a great result for both the customer and our business.
What you’ll be doing
So that you can get a feel for the job, here is what you will be doing day to day:
· Planning, visibility and delivery of the assembly and manufacturing schedules in line with company targets.
· Provide leadership and communicate with area leads and motivate staff to achieve assembly and manufacturing production goals.
· Proactively set, monitor and report against departmental KPI’s.
· Implement and lead lean manufacturing tools and techniques (examples include 5S, accurate cycle times, takt times) to drive efficiency, productivity and agility.
· Ensure Bill of Material Accuracy and engineering changes / component cut in’s are managed in a timely fashion.
· Ensure material shortages (both from suppliers and manufacturing dept) are identified and suitable corrective actions are implemented to prevent assembly line stoppages.
· Ensure material, WIP and Sub-Assemblies are in the right place at the right time within the production dept.
· Work cross functionally with your team and other departments to meet company objectives.
· Provide suitable training to develop teams and deliver exceptional operational achievement.
· Proactively review, monitor and develop internal processes and systems.
· Ensure effective manpower, machinery and material utilisation in line with departmental goals.
· Maintaining all operational equipment / tooling and building business cases for new equipment.
· Budget and project management.
· Devise and implement production strategy.
What you’ll need to succeed
Need to know
· Detailed understanding of lean manufacturing and how to implement and deliver productivity improvements within an SME
· An excellent understanding of business ERP/MRP systems / Bills of Materials.
· Knowledge and practical experience of best practice manufacturing and assembly techniques
· A good working knowledge of all relevant H&S regulations and quality standards
Need to have
· Proven experience in a similar role, managing multiple teams within an assembly and/or manufacturing setting.
· Exceptional written and oral communication skills
· Proven experience or accreditation in lean manufacturing and a track record in delivering a continuous improvement culture within a production environment
· Experience of devising, managing and delivering KPI’s
· A can do, problem solving approach with a clear understanding of delivering long lasting improvements
· Ability to adapt and thrive on change
· Customer centric focus, both internal and external

Hours of work are 40 hours per week: Mon - Thurs 8.00am – 5.00pm, Friday 8.00am – 3.45pm.
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum based on 40 hours per week, depending on experience.
Location: Hixon, Stafford (rural location).
