Accounts Assistant

The team you’ll be working in
Working within the Finance team, you will provide assistance to the Accounts Manager on a daily basis including sales, purchase and general ledger activities. This role incorporates responsibilities for two businesses.
What you’ll be doing
So that you can get a feel for the job, here is what you will be doing day to day:
· Processing purchase invoices onto the purchase ledger, matching to purchase orders, goods receipts and stock transactions as appropriate.
· Investigating reasons for discrepancies between supplier invoices and purchase orders with resolution as appropriate.
· Completing supplier statement reconciliations, filing of supplier statements, communicating with suppliers to request copy invoices or resolve issues as and when required
· Working accurately and efficiently to ensure purchase ledger is up to date, particularly at month end.
· Generating sales invoices onto the sales ledger with reference to delivery notes and order confirmations.
· Sending invoices and statements to customers.
· Daily Bank Account Reconciliation.
· Posting and allocating cash receipts and payments.
· Credit control duties including chasing payments from customers.
· Maintaining customer credit limits, ensuring customers operate within agreed terms.
· Raising Credit notes in line with departmental procedures.
· Any other duties the business requires.
What you’ll need to succeed
Need to know
· How to use all core Office software
· knowledge of Excel
· Knowledge in use of computerised accounting software
· Working knowledge and experience in maintenance of financial ledgers
Need to have
· Drivers licence – set in rural location
· Good IT skills
· Good working Knowledge of Excel
· Great attention to detail and organisational skills.
· Experience of working in a similar role would be desirable
· Ability to prioritise own workload and work to deadlines
· A proactive, can-do attitude
· This role would be ideal for someone studying towards AAT or similar accounting qualification

Hours of work are 40 hours per week – 8:00-17:00 Mon–Thu / 8:00-15:45 Fri
Salary: £20,000 - £26,000 per annum depending on experience.
Location: Hixon, Stafford (rural location)
